The walking times are official estimates, not promises for the peak crowd. They also do not include finding the correct entrance, waiting at a control point, buying food or using a toilet.
Fuda: most seat formats
Fuda has a broad range of products, from one-person chairs to an eight-person semi-private setup. Some seats are on top of the embankment and others are below it. The official page identifies Fuda Station as a 20-minute walk and Chofu or Kokuryo as 25 minutes.
Check the Japanese characters 布田会場. The organizer specifically warns that this is the Fuda venue in Chofu City, not a similarly named place in Kawasaki’s Tama Ward on the opposite side of the river.
Keio-Tamagawa: shortest listed walk
Keio-Tamagawa Station’s north-side ticket gate is listed as a 10-minute walk from this venue. That makes it appealing to travelers who want the most direct published approach. It does not mean the station will be uncrowded after the finale. The venue includes single panorama seats, chairs, pairs, tables and six-person banquet seating.
UEC Ground: lowest listed paid entry
The UEC Ground product costs ¥4,500 per person and includes an event leisure sheet measuring about 90 × 90 cm. Seating inside is unreserved. Staff direct people from the front, so a group must enter together; saving space inside for someone arriving later is not allowed. The organizer also warns that mobile service may be difficult in the crowd.

General public sales began on June 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Tickets are sold through Seven Ticket online and at 7-Eleven multi-copy machines in Japan. Some seat types may already be sold out when you read this guide, so treat the prices below as a product list, not an availability claim.

At a 7-Eleven machine, the published codes are 115-535 for Fuda, 115-536 for Keio-Tamagawa and 115-537 for UEC Ground. Confirm the venue name again before payment. A ticket is valid for the venue printed on it, and the three paid venues are not connected internally.
Paid venues open at 3:30 p.m. Keep the physical ticket: it is needed for entry, re-entry and, if the entire event is canceled, the applicable refund procedure. Lost or damaged tickets are not reissued.
Which station should you use?

Why the bus is not the primary plan
The official FAQ lists buses from Chofu Station and from Odakyu’s Komae Station, but it also warns that event traffic restrictions may suspend services and congestion may cause major delays. The exact operating pattern can change on the day. Use a bus after checking the operator’s final notice; do not build a tight arrival around an ordinary Saturday timetable.
What to save offline
Save these four items before leaving the hotel:
- a screenshot of the venue name on your ticket;
- the official venue/access map when released;
- the Japanese name of your station and venue;
- a return route that does not depend on mobile data at the river.

A realistic arrival timeline
The organizer gives gate and launch times but cannot guarantee your walking speed through an event crowd. The times below are Real Japan Guide planning buffers, not official admission guarantees.
Low-stress paid-seat plan
- 2:45–3:15 p.m.: reach the station matched to your ticket.
- 3:15–4:00 p.m.: follow the official pedestrian route and enter after gates open at 3:30 p.m.
- By 4:30 p.m.: locate your seat, toilet, exit gate and group meeting point.
- 5:00–5:30 p.m.: finish food purchases and toilet visits before queues intensify.
- 6:00 p.m.: opening ceremony.
- 6:15–7:15 p.m.: fireworks.
A paid seat protects your viewing space, not your arrival. Turning up at Chofu Station at 5:45 p.m. because a normal map says “20 minutes” leaves no margin for crowd control, a wrong exit or a slow ticket check.
UEC Ground group plan
Meet outside the venue and enter together. Inside, staff seat guests from the front, and you cannot hold extra places for late arrivals. Choose one named meeting point near the station rather than “somewhere at the gate,” then set a departure deadline for anyone who is delayed.
Free-viewing plan
Free space may be unavailable. The official rules allow place-holding from midnight on September 12, but someone must remain with the sheet. That is a rule, not a recommendation to spend the night outside. For international visitors, the practical choices are to arrive well before late afternoon and accept uncertainty, or buy a paid seat and remove the place-holding problem.
Plan the exit before the first firework
The display ends at 7:15 p.m. The riverbank does not instantly return to normal transport conditions. Thousands of people can move toward a small number of walking routes and stations, while buses and roads remain affected.
Choose an exit mode before the show:
Leave a few minutes before the finale
This sacrifices the closing sequence but can reduce schedule pressure for families, visitors with limited standing tolerance or anyone making a fixed connection. It is the most predictable trade: less spectacle for a better head start.
Stay for the full display and let the first wave move
If staff allow people to remain briefly, avoid forcing your way into the first surge. Keep the group together and follow the venue’s designated exit rather than crossing into another area. Do not count on vendors, toilets or the grounds staying open for a long wait.
Walk to the station printed in your original plan
Do not improvise a river crossing or chase a taxi inside the traffic-control area. A station that looks slightly less crowded on a live map may require a route that police have restricted. Follow staff instructions first, then your saved alternative once you are outside the controlled zone.
Agree on a meeting point in case the group separates. “At Chofu Station” is too vague; specify an exit, storefront or landmark outside the heaviest flow. If your phone loses service, wait there for a fixed period rather than sending an endless chain of messages.
Can you watch Chofu Fireworks for free?
Yes, the organizer designates free-viewing areas at Fuda and Keio-Tamagawa. However, admission may be restricted when the areas reach their operating limit. A social-media pin outside these areas may be private land, a blocked route or a place where the music cannot be heard clearly.
The official place-holding rules include:
- sheets may be placed from 12:00 a.m. on September 12;
- allow roughly 90 × 90 cm per person;
- someone must remain after the place is claimed;
- stay inside the roped free-viewing boundary;
- do not use spray, adhesive tape, parasols, tents, cars, motorcycles or bicycles to claim space;
- do not secure a sheet with chopsticks, stakes, pegs or other sharp objects;
- use a safer weight such as a water-filled plastic bottle if necessary;
- unauthorized seat selling can lead to removal of the items.
Oversized or rule-breaking claims may be removed without compensation. Keep emergency and pedestrian routes open.
For a first visit, compare the real cost of “free”: an early arrival, one person staying with the space, weather exposure and the possibility of entry restriction. The ¥4,500 UEC Ground option may be better value when your Tokyo time is limited, provided tickets remain available.
Rain, cancellation and ticket refunds
Chofu Fireworks is scheduled to proceed in rain and to be canceled in severe weather, with no postponement date. The organizer plans to decide by 10:00 a.m. on September 12. A “go” decision at 10:00 a.m. is not irreversible: rising river levels, rain or wind can still cause a later cancellation.
Check the official Chofu Fireworks site before leaving. The organizer also lists its social accounts, Chofu FM 83.8 MHz, local disaster loudspeakers and an automated event-day number, 050-3033-4777, operating from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
When is a paid ticket refundable?
The published rule is narrow:
- A refund is available when the event is completely canceled before fireworks begin.
- If fireworks begin and are then stopped partway through, there is no refund.
- Delay or non-arrival caused by transport conditions does not qualify.
- Refunds are handled by the store where the ticket was purchased.
- The physical ticket is required.
- The listed refund period is September 15–October 31, 2026.
Do not discard a wet or unused ticket until the organizer publishes the final procedure. Keep it in a waterproof sleeve. If the event proceeds in rain, use a poncho rather than an open umbrella in the viewing crowd.

Food and drink can be carried into paid areas, and vendors operate at paid and free venues. The organizer warns that lines can be long and the number of stalls is limited, so buying essentials before the final approach is sensible. Temporary toilets are available but are not flush toilets and can become very crowded.

- the organizer prohibits smoking throughout the event areas;
- pets are not admitted, except assistance dogs;
- unauthorized drones are prohibited;
- barbecues, portable stoves, gas canisters and handheld fireworks are prohibited;
- tents and parasols are prohibited;
- boats and canoes cannot be used for viewing;
- there is no event parking, and bicycle parking is limited;
- tripods are permitted, but users must consider the people around them.
Firework fragments or ash can fall depending on wind. Protect eyes and belongings, and follow staff directions if the wind changes. Keep valuables attached to your body; a crowded portable-toilet area is a poor place to discover that a phone slipped from an open pocket.
