Quick answer: Sagamiko Illumillion’s announced season is November 14, 2026–May 9, 2027 at Sagamiko MORI MORI in Kanagawa. From April 5 onward, illumination operates only on weekends and public holidays. For an independent trip, plan the JR journey to Sagamiko Station and the onward bus together, then choose admission only or a Night Free Pass. Use the B or C rate assigned to your actual date, and check ride availability before paying for a pass.
The attraction is an outdoor forest-light evening rather than a quick stop beside a central Tokyo station. It can suit a trip with time for the transfer, hills and an unhurried return. Before buying, decide whether you want a light walk or rides as well, and whether everyone in the group can manage the terrain.

Choose a date, then check that day’s hours
The official event site announces November 14–May 9, with closed days. It is at Sagamiko MORI MORI (さがみ湖MORI MORI), formerly known as Sagamiko Resort Pleasure Forest. If an older transport listing uses the former name, confirm the destination rather than assuming it is a different attraction.
The season’s operating guide says lights are switched on progressively after 4:00 p.m., subject to sunset. Entry from 2:00 p.m. on a Night Free Pass does not mean every display is already lit. From April 5, 2027, only weekends and public holidays are illumination days; weekdays are excluded.
| Before choosing a date | Planning action |
|---|---|
| Before November 14 | The announced 2026–2027 Illumillion season has not begun |
| Within the season | Check the actual operating date, opening/closing times and unavailable attractions |
| April 5 onward | Choose a weekend or public holiday and verify the calendar |
| Late arrival | The park calendar states final admission is 30 minutes before closing |
Use the current operating calendar rather than a single closing time copied across six months. The final-entry cutoff is a limit, not a comfortable arrival target. Allow enough time to get through entry, choose a route, enjoy the lights and reach your return transport.
Choose admission or a Night Free Pass

Admission is the starting choice for seeing the lights without a ride pass. A Night Free Pass permits entry from 2:00 p.m. and eligible attractions; a full Free Pass covers a longer park day. The word “free” in the product name means the specified ride-pass arrangement, not free admission.
The table below reproduces the event-specific guide’s published rates, checked October 18. Adults are junior-high-school age and older; the combined reduced category is children aged three through elementary school and seniors aged 65+.
| Product | Normal B day: adult / reduced | High-season C day: adult / reduced |
|---|---|---|
| Admission | ¥2,000 / ¥1,300 | ¥2,400 / ¥1,700 |
| Night Free Pass, entry from 2:00 p.m. | ¥3,000 / ¥2,400 | ¥3,400 / ¥2,800 |
| Free Pass | ¥4,700 / ¥3,700 | ¥4,700 / ¥3,700 |
The general tariff page, checked directly during final review, agrees with these event rates. It also warns that buying a Free Pass after entering on admission alone is not a difference-only upgrade: the listed additional purchase is ¥3,600 for adults and ¥3,000 for children/seniors. If a full ride day is your intention, compare the full product before entering rather than assuming you can simply pay the gap later. Confirm the selected date’s actual product and conditions at purchase.
Using the event table, two adults plus one elementary-school child would pay ¥5,300 for B-day admission, or ¥6,500 on a C day. The Night Free Pass examples are ¥8,400 and ¥9,600 respectively. These are calculations from that table, not an observed purchase; transport, food and separately charged attractions are additional.
Check the product’s cancellation terms before committing. The park FAQ says purchased tickets are not refundable and directs advance-ticket refund questions to the selling store. A forecast change does not by itself establish a refund entitlement. We have not tested overseas-card checkout or every seller’s terms.
A night pass does not keep all daytime rides open
The event guide says around twenty of the park’s approximately thirty attractions finish operating at 4:00 p.m. Their queue acceptance can end earlier so the last waiting customer rides by that time. Entering at 2:00 p.m. therefore does not promise a full afternoon of every attraction followed by the lights.
Before paying extra, identify the actual rides that matter to you and check them against the calendar’s operating information. A ride’s height, age or other restrictions also apply; owning a pass does not remove them. Some attractions require an additional charge even with a pass.
For a light-focused visit, start with admission and compare any separately desired ride. For a family that wants afternoon attractions, arrive with enough time for their own cutoffs, then keep the evening walk shorter. This decision is more useful than counting how many attractions appear on a promotional page.
The event guide currently says the pair lift is free from 4:00 p.m. That does not mean every upper-area activity is free, or that every visitor can use the lift. Check the return arrangement and the suitability of the upper area before including it in your evening.
Take the train to Sagamiko, then the correct bus

The park’s main access page describes Sagamiko Station (相模湖駅) on the JR Chuo route, one station beyond Takao toward Kofu. Search from your accommodation for your actual date and check whether your train goes through or requires a change at Takao.
- At Sagamiko Station, find bus stop 1.
- Take a bus bound for Mikage / 三ケ木.
- Get off at さがみ湖MORI MORI前. The operator gives about eight minutes for the bus ride.
- For the return, use the bus toward 相模湖駅, then continue by train toward your accommodation.
The eight-minute figure is the bus journey, not the whole Tokyo-to-park trip. Add the railway journey, transfer waiting and the walk to the admission point. Save the Japanese destination names and show them to the driver if you are unsure.
The park links separate outward and return Kanachu timetables. We could not retrieve those linked timetable pages during this check, so this guide does not quote a local-bus fare or a final departure. Check the current schedule for your date through the access page before traveling. A route existing on a map is not enough to establish a workable late-evening journey.
Our Japan bus guide can help with general boarding and payment questions. Verify the actual bus’s payment instructions rather than expecting every operator to use identical doors or payment timing.
Check direct-bus products without reusing last season’s notice
The event access page has tour-bus information, but its direct-bus details are still marked “Coming Soon” at this check. A package can reduce independent transfers, but inspect its actual operating date, boarding location, included admission and return arrangements. A tour coach and a local bus are different products.
The operator’s highway-bus stop guide shows different boarding approaches for Shinjuku and Yokohama and asks visitors to confirm with the driver on the day. When you arrive, identify the stop for the service you bought; do not return to an arbitrary bus shelter near the gate.
Some searchable bus listings still refer to the 2025 season or the park’s older name. Confirm the current product’s validity rather than copying its fare, last return or pickup time. If no suitable bus can be confirmed, keep the railway/local-bus option only if its return works, or choose another outing.
Allow for hills, cold evenings and a shorter route

This is a hilly site. The FAQ says wheelchairs cannot use the lift and describes the alternative walking route as a steep slope comparable to an intermediate ski course. Folding a stroller for the lift is subject to the stated adult-accompaniment rules. A free lift is therefore not a general accessibility solution.
For a wheelchair, stroller or limited walking stamina, ask the park about the specific areas you want to reach and the return route. Do not assume that a paved path or a generated picture establishes an easy circuit. The official park map helps identify areas, but suitability needs more than a map pin.
For a first visit, use the general park map for initial planning and allow a food or rest break. The event site’s Illumillion Map is still marked “Coming Soon”; check it again when published before choosing your final viewing route. Roughly two to three hours inside can be a planning starting point for a modest light walk; this is our editorial allowance, not an official completion time. Queues, terrain and your group’s pace may change it.

Bring shoes suited to walking, warm layers, a compact rain shell and a charged phone with a backup battery if needed. Check the local forecast rather than dressing only for a short walk around central Tokyo. The event guide says illumination runs in rain, but that does not guarantee every attraction operates in all weather.
Have a meal before arrival or plan a stop from the park’s restaurant information. Check current hours and keep enough margin to leave on time. The FAQ allows packed food outdoors, while prohibiting its consumption inside restaurants. Use the designated outdoor space and manage your litter.
Work backward from the return bus

Before leaving Tokyo, save the preferred park-to-station bus and another workable connection, plus the trains after it. Set your own park departure target earlier than the boarding time, allowing for walking down from your last viewing area, reaching the stop and waiting.
If the final transfer is uncertain, shorten the visit while alternatives remain. Do not plan on a taxi simply appearing or use the park’s closing time as proof that public transport is still available. Ask staff about current options while you have time to change course.
If the travel or hills do not suit your group, our Tokyo Mega Illumination guide offers another venue to assess. For a longer rail outing, compare Ashikaga Flower Park. Each needs its own operating-day, ticket and access check.
