Hibiya Magic Time Illumination runs November 12, 2026–February 28, 2027, with announced lighting hours of 16:00–23:00. The main Avengers-themed tree finishes earlier, on December 25. Choose a pre-Christmas date for that tree; choose a winter visit for the continuing street, garden and heart-tree displays. Save Tokyo Midtown Hibiya as your destination: Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi is a different venue.

Checked October 28, 2026. Times are Japan Standard Time. This is a guide based on official announcements, not a firsthand visit. The 2026 event has not opened yet. Suggested routes and visit lengths below are our planning advice.

Choose your date by the display you want

The official event page separates the programme into these areas. The longest advertised season does not apply to every installation.

Display Location Announced season
HIBIYA Magic Time SQUARE 2026: Avengers-themed main tree Hibiya Step Square November 12–December 25, 2026
ETERNAL HEART TREE Above the grand staircase at Step Square November 12, 2026–February 28, 2027
PARK VIEW WINTER GARDEN 6F Park View Garden November 12, 2026–February 28, 2027
HIBIYA AREA ILLUMINATION Hibiya Naka-dori street November 12, 2026–February 28, 2027

For all four announced displays, plan within November 12–December 25. That overlap is calculated from the published dates; it is not a guarantee of uninterrupted operation. From December 26, do not plan around the main tree. The other three displays have later end dates.

The announcements reviewed do not specify an admission fee or a ticket-booking procedure. We therefore cannot confirm a detailed entry policy or call the whole programme a ticketed attraction. Check the event’s own latest information before buying anything advertised simply as “Midtown Christmas.”

Four areas, four reasons to stop

The organizer’s announcement describes an approximately eight-metre tree inspired by Avengers: Doomsday, with colour lighting and music across Step Square. Choose this as your priority if the film connection is the reason for your visit. A specific repeating show interval was not stated in the material we checked; do not build a tight dinner reservation around an assumed performance time.

The ETERNAL HEART TREE is a separate installation: a katsura tree with silver-white lights and red heart accents above the grand staircase. The sixth-floor garden uses white-lit shrubs and background music, while Naka-dori combines colour and white illumination. Seeing the street does not mean you have seen the upper garden.

Pick one must-see area before adding the others. Someone seeking a quick outdoor stop can keep the street as the main objective. Someone who wants the garden should leave time to find the correct lift and floor. These are choices for organizing your evening, not an official recommended circuit.

Get to Hibiya, not Roppongi or Yaesu

Save 東京ミッドタウン日比谷 / Tokyo Midtown Hibiya, 1-1-2 Yurakucho, Chiyoda-ku. The official access page lists the following approaches:

  • Hibiya Station: directly connected; Tokyo Metro Hibiya and Chiyoda lines, and Toei Mita Line.
  • Yurakucho Station, Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line: about four minutes on foot.
  • Yurakucho Station, JR Yamanote or Keihin-Tohoku Line: about five minutes on foot.
  • Ginza Station: about five minutes on foot; Marunouchi, Hibiya and Ginza lines.

Those are the venue’s station-access estimates. They do not include every platform, navigation delay or lift detour. Choose the station that fits your existing journey instead of adding a transfer only to save a minute of walking. Check the actual walking directions before leaving the station.

“Directly connected” does not by itself establish a fully step-free route. If you need lifts, check your station’s accessible exit and ask staff about the approach to your destination. We have not inspected the temporary event layout or verified every accessible route through it.

A short visit, with an optional garden stop

For a first visit before Christmas, allow roughly 45–75 minutes for a flexible look at the lights, with extra time for food or shopping. This is an editorial allowance, not a measured walking duration, queue prediction or promised tour length. Keep the end of the plan adjustable.

  1. Find your priority first. During its season, use the main tree at Step Square as the first destination if that is what brought you here. Agree on a more precise meeting point once everyone can identify it.
  2. Choose another nearby display. Use current signs and the official map for the heart tree or Naka-dori. If you need to avoid the grand staircase, ask for the appropriate lift route rather than following people up the steps.
  3. Add 6F only if it suits the group. Check the current floor guide and follow signs for Park View Garden / パークビューガーデン. Leave it optional if a companion needs an earlier indoor break.
  4. Finish with your chosen meal or return journey. Decide whether another stop still feels worthwhile before committing to it.

After Christmas, begin with one of the continuing displays instead. Keeping the same main-tree meeting arrangement after its season ends would make the outing harder to coordinate. Send companions the venue name and agreed meeting place, not just a photograph from a previous year.

With children or limited mobility, watch earlier cutoffs

Lights continuing until 23:00 do not mean every visitor service lasts that late. The venue’s wheelchair service page lists loans at 1F Information from 11:00, with return required by 19:30. Reservations are not accepted, use is limited to the complex, and a mobile phone number or identification is requested. Do not depend on borrowing one for a late-night outing. The facility-only condition also does not establish permission to take a loan wheelchair along every part of the surrounding street display.

The family service page gives the same 19:30 return deadline for loan strollers. It lists ten strollers for children aged one month to four years, without reservations, for use within the complex. Availability on your visit has not been verified; bring your own suitable equipment if you depend on it.

The family page also lists a 2F baby room open 11:00–21:00, with nursing rooms, changing beds and a sink. A family arriving after 21:00 should not assume it can use that room simply because the lights remain on. Check current service notices before travel.

For a shorter evening, choose one display, locate the facilities you need and leave dinner flexible. Do not use our images to judge gradients, path widths, seating, stroller access or the availability of a particular lift. Use the official map and staff guidance for those decisions.

Plan dinner and an indoor alternative separately

The facility’s general information lists shops until 20:00 and restaurants until 23:00, with changes possible. A restaurant’s last order, seating availability or holiday schedule can differ. Use the restaurant directory to choose an actual place, then confirm its own hours and conditions before relying on a late meal.

Set a food-and-transport budget before leaving. No event-specific food market, stall menu, payment method or guaranteed seat was established in the sources reviewed. If you want a substantial meal, arrange one separately rather than expecting a Christmas market to appear beside the lights.

Keep a weather fallback that works without the outdoor displays: a restaurant you have checked, an indoor activity you have booked, or simply returning earlier. This research did not establish event-specific rain or strong-wind operating rules. Look for fresh notices on the day; do not interpret missing cancellation information as a promise that everything will run.

For photographs, pause at the side of the flow and keep entrances and paths clear. Take a few pictures, then move aside to review them. If space feels uncomfortable, shorten the visit instead of waiting for a perfectly empty scene. Follow any staff instructions or temporary restrictions.

Decide whether to add another winter outing

Our Marunouchi winter-lights guide covers another central-Tokyo option. Compare its current dates and route before combining outings; Hibiya’s timetable does not apply there. If you meant the Roppongi venue, use our Tokyo Midtown Christmas guide instead.

One satisfying lights stop followed by dinner may suit you better than several hurried venues. Check the Japan Event Calendar for dates, and save a return route before setting out. A 23:00 lighting finish is not evidence of your last train; our last-train guide explains that separate check.
