Tokyo Dome City’s winter illumination is free to view from November 19, 2026 to February 28, 2027, with lights announced for 17:00–24:00, subject to changes. You do not need a ride passport simply to enjoy the outdoor lights. The indoor Cinnamoroll Park is a separate, paid, timed-entry event with a shorter season and earlier closing. Choose which experience you want before booking anything.

Pick your date before planning the evening

November 19 is a lights-only opening day if your alternative is the indoor park, which opens the following day. From November 20 to January 17 you can combine both, subject to ticket availability. From January 18 to February 28, plan for the illumination rather than the indoor park. The Cinnamoroll collaboration tunnel continues through the illumination season, according to Sanrio’s collaboration notice.

For a family trip, decide whether the character event is the main reason to travel here. If it is, reserve a suitable park slot first and add a short light walk around it. If you only want an inexpensive winter evening, keep the plan flexible and skip the paid extras. An outdoor visit can also work after Christmas; the indoor event and the illumination have different finishing dates.

What is announced for this winter?

The snow-themed programme pairs white lights with Cinnamoroll. Announced highlights include the roughly 15-metre WONDER SNOW TREE, the SPARKLE TUNNEL collaboration and the LUMINOUS SNOW DOME. The organiser announces tree light shows every 15 minutes, while detailed schedules for the character-song presentation will follow. Do not plan a train connection around an unconfirmed performance time.

Use the official map and notices available on your visit date to choose the displays you want. Treat the illustrations in this guide as travel concepts, not photographs or a map of this year’s installation. If you are interested in one specific display, save its official name so you can show it to staff instead of relying on an image search.

When the indoor park is worth booking

The indoor event is optional. The official Sanrio page lists ordinary tickets as follows; prices include tax.

Ticket Weekday Weekend / holiday
Junior high school age and older ¥2,200 ¥2,500
Age 3 through elementary school ¥1,600 ¥1,900

December 31–January 3 uses holiday pricing. Under-3s enter free; preschool children need a guardian of junior high school age or older. Admission is timed. Optional experiences can require additional tickets. Read the selected ticket’s conditions before paying.

For example, one adult and one school-age child need ¥3,800 on an ordinary weekday or ¥4,400 on a weekend/holiday for standard park admission alone. Food, transport and rides are extra. If that exceeds your budget, the outdoor illumination remains a separate free option; you can enjoy a light walk without building the evening around the park.

Which station should you choose?

Compare the route from your accommodation before changing trains just to use a particular exit. Gallery AaMo’s event access directions give these approaches to the indoor venue:

Service Station / ordinary approach Check before leaving
JR Chuo–Sobu local trains Suidobashi, East Exit Choose a train that stops at Suidobashi
Toei Mita Line Suidobashi, A3 JR and Toei are different station areas
Tokyo Metro Marunouchi / Namboku lines Korakuen, Exit 2 Confirm a lift route separately if needed

These are approaches to Gallery AaMo, not the starting point of a mandatory illumination circuit. For lights alone, choose an arrival point that suits your train and the current venue map. Save the station name, line and intended exit together. “Suidobashi” by itself is not enough when meeting someone arriving on another operator’s line.

Keep your first visit simple: one arrival station, a few displays and a clear return route. Repeatedly crossing the complex to tick off every photo spot can turn a relaxed evening into a navigation exercise.

A manageable early-evening plan

Allow around 45–60 minutes for a selective light walk. This is our planning allowance, not an official circuit time or a queue forecast. Add time for your meal, indoor booking or rides separately.

  1. Before travelling, check the current event notice, weather and return journey. If visiting the park, make its entry slot the fixed point.
  2. Eat before the outdoor walk if children or companions are already tired. Decide whether a full meal or a short snack fits your plans.
  3. After the announced switch-on time, choose two or three displays using the official map. If a viewing area is congested, move on and reconsider it later.
  4. Finish while everyone is still comfortable and the journey back is straightforward. You do not need to remain until midnight.

For the indoor event plus lights, an earlier park slot leaves more flexibility. A late park slot can leave less room for the indoor experience before closing. Confirm the ticketed admission time and last-entry rule rather than assuming the outdoor hours apply indoors.

Keep the free evening free

Set your spending limit before arriving: transport, food, then any optional paid activity. The official Attractions store describes a free-gate amusement area, with ride tickets sold separately. A passport is a way to pay for rides; it is not an entrance requirement for the outdoor illumination.

Buy only the extras your group actually wants. If one person wants a ride, compare that specific ticket with a passport and check its restrictions and operating hours first. Do not assume a seasonal discount from last winter still applies. Likewise, a themed indoor experience should be budgeted as an extra event, not folded into the meaning of “free lights.”

With children, a stroller or limited mobility

Choose a small number of stops and agree where to reunite if separated. Keep walking routes clear when taking photos, and step aside before checking a phone. A child who is cold or tired does not need one more display to make the visit worthwhile.

For lift access, Tokyo Dome Hotel’s station-route guide identifies elevators on the JR Suidobashi East Exit approach. Its accessible Korakuen approach uses Exit 4b and a LaQua lift, unlike the ordinary Exit 2 directions. These are hotel routes: they do not verify step-free access to every illumination display. Check your exact destination and lift availability separately, especially if you expect to leave after nearby facilities close.

Crowds and bad weather: shorten the plan early

Check the Tokyo Dome event schedule for your date, particularly when a concert or other large event overlaps your visit. We have not measured attendance or predicted quiet hours. An ordinary weekday is a reasonable planning preference, not a promise of empty paths.

If the area is busy, choose a meeting point away from an entrance, follow staff directions and keep your route flexible. Avoid stopping in a crossing or on a narrow approach for a photograph. Let a crowded display go if reaching it would make the evening stressful.

For rain, wind or uncomfortable cold, use a shorter outdoor window and arrange your own indoor alternative. The illumination’s late finish does not guarantee restaurant service, an available seat or shelter until then. Check a chosen venue’s hours before relying on it. You can also move the light walk to another day instead of buying an unwanted indoor ticket to rescue the plan.

Plan the last train, not just the last light

Look up your full journey back to your accommodation, including any final transfer, before you start the walk. A train still running from Suidobashi or Korakuen does not prove your onward connection is available. Save the route and leave a buffer for reaching the platform.

The midnight lighting finish is not a target departure time. If a late dinner or show is part of your plan, decide which activity you will shorten if it runs over. Keep enough battery for your return route, and carry a small backup power source if you normally rely on your phone for navigation. For a missed connection, use our Tokyo last-train and taxi guide to work through alternatives.

Choose one winter destination that fits your trip

If you are already planning a different neighbourhood, compare our Yebisu Garden Place Christmas guide, Roppongi Hills Christmas guide and Tokyo Midtown Christmas guide. Check each destination’s own dates and hours. Avoid adding several separated light-up areas to one evening unless your group specifically wants that pace.

For a January or February trip, start with your actual travel dates rather than a list labelled “Christmas.” Use the Japan Event Calendar to compare dated events, then confirm the organiser’s latest notice before travelling.
