Tokyo Midtown Christmas 2026: Bubbles, Dates & Rink Costs

Tokyo Midtown Christmas 2026 in Roppongi runs November 26–December 25, with free garden lights from 17:00 to 23:00. For the soap bubbles, lounge and ice rink on the same visit, choose December 5–20. The bubbles and lounge finish before Christmas week; skating starts later than the lights. Choose your date around the activity you most want.

Choose a date for the experience you want

The 2026 announcement introduces a garden light show, a Christmas tree and a new lounge under the theme “Midwinter Night’s Dream.” Their schedules overlap, but the Christmas event dates do not cover everything below. Use the official programme PDF for the individual details.

What you want Announced dates Hours and cost
MIDWINTER LIGHTS and THE DREAMING TREE November 26–December 25 17:00–23:00; free
Soap-bubble effects November 26–December 20 Every 4 minutes during the main lights
MIDWINTER LOUNGE November 26–December 20 Weekdays 16:00–22:00; Sat/Sun 15:00–22:00; last orders 21:30; paid
Gold-lit “Path of Light” November 26–February 23, 2027 17:00–23:00; free; times may change
RALPH LAUREN MIDTOWN ICE RINK December 5–February 23, 2027; closed January 1 11:00–21:00; reception until 20:00; paid

The December 5–20 recommendation is our intersection of those schedules, not a separate ticket or a guarantee that every activity will operate. If you visit December 21–25, plan around the main lights and tree without expecting bubbles or the lounge. After Christmas, the extended walkway and rink are different reasons to visit; the main Christmas show is not announced to continue with them.

Visiting in November before opening? Midtown has a separate facility closure notice: shortened opening on November 20 and temporary closure November 21–23, before the Christmas programme starts. Do not use the neighbouring Roppongi Hills event’s earlier start as evidence that Midtown’s garden is ready. For a trip ending before opening day, choose a different confirmed outing rather than booking a Christmas visit here.

Find Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi, not another Midtown

Save 東京ミッドタウン / Tokyo Midtown, 9-7-1 Akasaka, Minato-ku. The address says Akasaka, while the useful station name is Roppongi. This is the garden venue in this guide, not Tokyo Midtown Hibiya or Tokyo Midtown Yaesu.

Check the official transport page before choosing a route:

  • Toei Oedo Line, Roppongi Station: Exit 8 connects directly to the complex.
  • Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line, Roppongi Station: an underground passage connects to the complex, but includes steps.
  • Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line, Nogizaka Station: the venue lists about three minutes on foot from Exit 3.

Those are approaches to the complex, not measured platform-to-illumination times. Once there, follow the facility map and signs for Midtown Garden, ミッドタウン・ガーデン. Meet companions at a named entrance or information desk rather than “Roppongi Station,” which leaves too much room for confusion.

Midtown Hibiya is by Hibiya Station; Midtown Yaesu is by Tokyo Station. Roppongi Hills is another complex, at 6-10-1 Roppongi. Our Roppongi Hills Christmas guide covers its Keyakizaka lights and market. A station-exit instruction for one venue should not be reused for the other.

Plan a lights-only evening or add one paid activity

For a flexible first visit, choose the free garden walk. Add the lounge because you want a drink or snack there, or skating because you want time on the ice. Neither purchase is necessary simply to view the free illumination.

Our suggested lights-only plan is to arrive around 17:00, orient yourself, see the main display and tree, then decide whether to continue along the lit walkway. Allow roughly an hour for a short visit, with more time if you stop often. This is an editorial planning allowance, not an official circuit time or a crowd forecast.

Before setting out, agree on one must-see item and one optional item. A family might choose the bubbles first and leave shopping flexible. Two friends finishing dinner later could choose a shorter garden walk. Keeping the priority clear makes it easier to leave comfortably instead of trying to complete every attraction.

For skating plus lights, start with the rink while your group has the energy for it, then take a break before the garden. Check admission and any session restrictions when the detailed rink site becomes available. Do not build a tight dinner reservation around an unverified skating duration. The announced reception cutoff is earlier than closing.

For a late-evening visit, distinguish light-viewing time from food service. Arriving at 21:45 during lounge season is already after its last orders. Garden hours do not extend the lounge, guarantee restaurant admission or establish a last train. Save your return route before leaving your accommodation; the RJG last-train guide explains the separate transport decision.

Budget separately for the lounge, skates and dinner

The lounge requires a food or drink purchase. Its announced standing and seated areas do not establish a guaranteed seat, a reservation system or a minimum spend. Menu prices and booking conditions were not verified at our check. Read the current offer before deciding it is your dinner or your guaranteed place to rest.

The rink’s published skating fee excludes the ¥500 rental-skate fee. The following totals are arithmetic from the announced rates, not a tested checkout. “Adult” means high-school students and older; “child” means junior-high students and younger.

With rental skates Standard rate December 12–January 3 holiday rate
Adult ¥2,000 + ¥500 = ¥2,500 ¥2,300 + ¥500 = ¥2,800
Child ¥1,400 + ¥500 = ¥1,900 ¥1,700 + ¥500 = ¥2,200

January 1 remains closed despite falling inside the holiday-price period. For one adult and one junior-high-school child using rentals on December 10, the calculation is ¥2,500 + ¥1,900 = ¥4,400. The same pair on December 15 totals ¥2,800 + ¥2,200 = ¥5,000, before transport, food or other purchases.

The release schedules the detailed rink website for November 12. At this check, minimum participation age, rental sizes, equipment rules, reservations and weather procedures remain unverified. With a child, check those before promising a skating session. The school-age fee category alone is not proof that every younger child can participate.

Check the step-free approach and earlier service cutoffs

Tokyo Midtown’s accessibility information recommends the Oedo Line for wheelchair and stroller users. For Hibiya Line arrivals, it directs visitors to reach the complex via ground level because the underground passage includes steps. Ask station staff for the appropriate elevator route rather than assuming every direct connection is step-free.

If you need to borrow a wheelchair, the listed service at Plaza B1 and Galleria 1F information desks has limited availability and a roughly four-hour usage guideline. Returns are due by 19:30, much earlier than lights-off. A late illumination plan therefore needs its own mobility arrangement. Confirm the practical route and availability before depending on a loan.

Accessible toilets are listed in the facility information. Use the current floor map to choose a convenient stop before going outdoors. General accessibility services do not verify access to the lounge’s raised viewing deck or every temporary event area; ask specifically about the place you want to use.

For any group needing an easier evening, choose the shortest satisfying version of the outing. Identify a meeting point and an indoor break, and keep one person’s need to leave early from becoming a problem for everyone. Do not use these conceptual pictures to judge path widths, gradients, seating or distances.

Keep an indoor alternative and photograph considerately

The announced Christmas Marché is in Galleria B1, with seasonal goods and accessories; it is not the same thing as a dinner market. Its listed hours are 11:00–21:00. You can consider it as an indoor browsing stop during its operating dates, without assuming it replaces the garden experience.

For a meal, use the current facility-hours notice and then check your chosen restaurant. General restaurant/bar hours extend later than shops, but individual opening times and last orders differ. A building still being open does not guarantee a kitchen will accept your order.

Check the forecast and latest event notices before leaving. We have not verified rain or strong-wind operating rules for the light effects, lounge or rink. If the weather makes an outdoor evening uncomfortable, keep your indoor plan and shorten the walk. Pack layers and comfortable shoes rather than relying on a warm place appearing exactly when you need it.

The venue FAQ says personal photography using tripods or reflectors, and photography for commercial purposes, are not allowed. It separately requires prior permission for business shoots or media publication. For ordinary visitor pictures, keep paths clear, follow staff directions and avoid making other people wait while you review every shot. Check the venue’s permission guidance for publication or professional use.

Will there be soap bubbles on Christmas Eve?

They are announced only through December 20. Christmas-week lights do not imply continued bubble effects.

What remains after December 25?

The lit walkway and rink have later seasons. Do not expect the main show, Christmas tree or lounge to continue with them. Check any date-specific closure.

No. Add the published rental fee when comparing your outing cost; the calculation table above includes it.

Is the rink open on New Year’s Day?

No. January 1 is explicitly excluded from its announced season.

Is the Hibiya Line connection step-free?

The underground passage has steps. Follow the facility’s ground-level advice or compare its recommended Oedo Line approach.

Can I assume the lounge will have seats?

No seating guarantee was verified. Check its actual conditions and retain another rest or meal option.

Can I navigate using the pictures here?

No. They are conceptual AI illustrations. Use official maps, signs and staff directions.

For other dated outings, compare the RJG Japan Event Calendar and our Tokyo December guide. Recheck official details before your visit, particularly the planned November rink-information update.
