Step 1

What kind of help do you need?

Choose a situation to highlight relevant starting points. Cards never move or disappear: the underlying comparison stays transparent.

Vehicle warning: “Private car tour” may mean a driver only, a driver-guide, or a car with a separate guide. RJG does not recommend a vehicle product until its actual passenger-transport provider and licensed arrangement can be verified.

Five questions for any “private car tour”

  1. Who is the actual passenger-transport company?
  2. Is the vehicle operating as a licensed taxi or hire car?
  3. Is the person meeting you a driver, guide, or both?
  4. Are tolls, parking, waiting, overtime and child seats included?
  5. Who handles disruption, accident support and refunds?

If the seller cannot answer clearly, a guide-led day on public transport is easier to verify. Add a licensed taxi only for the difficult segment.

Japan’s transport ministry advises travelers to use properly licensed taxis or hire cars for paid passenger transport. Read the official MLIT safety guidance.

FAQ

Questions travelers should ask

Is a private guide the same as a driver-guide?

No. Guiding and passenger transport are different roles. Verify both the guide language and the licensed transport arrangement.

Is a marketplace responsible for every tour shown?

Listings are commonly supplied by individual operators. Check the exact operator and product terms.

Should I pay per person or per group?

Compare the final total for your actual group, including admissions, meals, transport, overtime and fees.

Can I choose my Tokyo guide?

Profile marketplaces often support personal selection. Other services may assign someone later.

Is a private car necessary?

Often not. Public transport works for many standard areas; a car can help with mobility, luggage or unusual routes.

How far ahead should I book?

There is no universal cutoff. Start earlier when language, personal fit or customization matters, and keep a second option.
